Six ITE students were awarded the inaugural ITE-SBR Youth Eco Ambassador Awards at the ITE Eco Conference 2017 on 3 November at ITE College West.

The ITE-SBR Youth Eco Ambassador Award is jointly conferred by the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and the Siloso Beach Resort (SBR).  The award aims to recognise the effort, contribution and commitment of ITE students in environmental conservation.

This year, the Outstanding Youth Eco Ambassador Award was awarded to Wui Xueli from ITE College East, Higher Nitec in Electronics Engineering.  Xueli is the President of College East Environmental Club, she represented Singapore in the Earth Global Youth Summit held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and presented an environmental project to the delegates.  She also initiated an Eco Kepalas project to create awareness on recycling for the residents in Simei estate.

The five recipients of the ITE-SBR Youth Eco Ambassador Awards are:

Darren Ng Kian Liang (ITE College East, Higher Nitec in Facility Management), the Vice President of College East Environmental Club, led a team to educate the community on water conservation and taught them on reading the utility meter.  He is also a Facilitator for the ABC Water Trail at Sengkang Floating Wetland and has conducted water testing experiment for Primary school students.

Daryl is the President of College West Green Ambassador Club, he organised the Youth for the Environment Day 2017 and he led his members to participate in the NEA Mozzie Wipeout and Community recycling.

Eunos is the Vice President of College West Green Ambassador Club and has been actively involved in hydroponic farming in College West.  He led his team of 3 to design and build a food composter prototype that converts food waste into fertilizer.

Melvin is the treasurer of the College Central Eco Club.  He organised beach cleaning and learning journey for his members and led them to participate in community cleaning and kNOw Cleaners day.

Darren is the President of College Central Greenery Club.  He conducted Eco Tour and Terrarium making workshops for students from Chao Yang School.  Darren also oversees the maintenance of the College Central Community Garden.
