1. The Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) is an annual week-long platform for energy professionals, policymakers and commentators to discuss and share best practices and solutions within the global energy space. The Singapore International Energy Week 2012 brought together more than 11,000 attendees from over 60 countries, comprising world policymakers and energy leaders, as well as industry professionals and academics in a search of solutions and strategies for “Shaping a New Energy Landscape”. This event started from 28 Oct to 01 Nov 2013. The venue for the event was at Marina Bay Sand, Singapore.
2. As a part of the program to support ITE’s Environmental Sustainability Initiatives to develop ECO awareness in our students and staff, our students were involved in the following activities for this event.
a. Five energy-efficient student projects from ITE have been selected by Energy Market Authority ( EMA ) to be displayed during SIEW 2013’s “Youth Showcase ” for a week. The other learning institutions to put up in the exhibition are NUS, Ngee Ann Poly and Temasek Poly.
The projects respectively are as follows:
i. ECO-Advertisement Board ( School of Electronics and Info-Comm Technology / Higher Nitec in Electronics Engineering, College Central )
ii. Accumulator for Gas Stove ( School of Engineering / Engineering Design, College Central )
iii. Energy Training Board ( School of Engineering / Nitec in Facility Technology, College East )
iv. Power Saviour ( School of Engineering / Higher Nitec in Electrical Engineering, College West )
vi. Self Sustainable Barricade Light ( School of Engineering / Higher Nitec in Electrical Engineering, College West )
b. 30 students from the 3 Colleges ( with 10 students from each College) were involved in the “ In Dialogue with Youth ” forum with Mr S Iswaran, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Home Affairs and Trade and Industry.
3. In addition, 2 teams from ITE have done us proud by participating and being selected as the finalist for the ” Youth for Energy Video Competition “:
a. SandCreative@ITE : Love the Earth. Be a part of Solution not the Pollution (Sand Animation Club @ITE College East)
b. Thunderstorm : Statement For Humanity (School of Electronics and Info- Comm Technology /College Central)
