Mr Bruce Poh, Director & CEO of Institute of Technical Education, receiving the Lee Foundation Singapore Environmental Achievement Award (Public Sector) from Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, alongside Ms Isabella Loh, Chairman of Singapore Environment Council, and Mr George Huang, Chairman of the SEAA Steering Committee and President of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation.
Established as a post-secondary education institution, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) provides career and technical education, and is a key developer of national occupational skills certification and standards.
ITE believes it is our responsibility as an education institution to instil in our students the importance of environmental sustainability. As such, our curriculum, student development programmes and building and development projects are guided by our Environmental Sustainability Initiatives Framework. We are pleased that this promotion of a ‘green’ culture is bearing fruit. Our staff and students play active roles in using their skills to contribute to the organisation’s and community’s ‘green’ efforts. Our students are groomed to be environmental champions and have established
strong industry partnerships to ensure that we continually acquire new knowledge in sustainability. As testament to our efforts, we have achieved the BCA Green Mark Platinum Award in 2012 and ISO 14000 certification.
